As the wheel of the year turns to the equinox, the world pauses in perfect balance—day and night standing as equals, light and shadow in harmony. This sacred moment invites us to reflect, release, and realign with the shifting rhythms of the earth. The equinox is not just a turning of the seasons, but an invitation to find balance within ourselves, honoring both what we let go of and what we welcome in.

Here is a great ritual for balance on the Autumn Equinox:
1. Prepare Your Space
- Choose a spot where you feel connected—altar, garden, or even a windowsill.
- Cleanse with smoke (sage, rosemary, cedar) or sound (bell, singing bowl).
- Place symbols of balance: a candle for light, a small bowl of water for darkness/reflection.

2. Gather Seasonal Tools
- Crystals: Smoky Quartz (grounding), Citrine (abundance), Amethyst (clarity), Moonstone (balance).
- Herbs/Offerings: Apples, corn, pomegranates, or rosemary sprigs.
- Colors: Gold, deep green, brown, and orange.
3. Center Yourself
- Light a candle and sit in stillness.
- Take slow breaths in rhythm: inhale for the length of the day, exhale for the length of the night (counting helps—try 6 in, 6 out).
4. Balance Invocation
Say aloud (or in your heart):
“At this time of balance, I honor both light and shadow. I release what no longer serves me and welcome harmony into my life.”
5. Ritual Action
- Write & Release: On one slip of paper, write what you’re releasing with the fading light. Burn or bury it.
- Write & Welcome: On another, write what you’re calling in for the coming months. Place it under a crystal or tuck it in your journal.
- If outdoors, scatter herbs or seeds as an offering of gratitude.
6. Close with Gratitude
- Thank the earth, the season, and yourself.
- Share food or drink (apple cider, herbal tea, bread, or fruit) to ground and seal the ritual.
As the equinox sun sets, remember that balance is not a destination but a rhythm—a dance of light and shadow, rest and renewal. Carry the harmony of this sacred moment within you, letting it guide your steps through the darker half of the year. You are centered, you are steady, and you move forward in balance.
